How to convert AVIF to TGA
- Drop your AVIF files on the box above, or click it to choose them (up to 30 at once).
- Press Convert. Each file is processed on your device and shows its old and new size.
- Download the files one by one or take them all as a ZIP.
What changes when you convert AVIF to TGA
- Every decoded pixel is written exactly — TGA is lossless here. Converting cannot restore detail AVIF compression already discarded; it only stops further loss.
- Transparency is kept.
- An animated AVIF becomes a single still image (the first frame).
- Camera details and GPS location (EXIF) are not copied into the new file. Photo orientation is applied to the pixels first, so the result is the right way up.
- Expect a much larger file: TGA here is uncompressed, about width × height × 4 bytes — roughly 48 MB for a 12-megapixel photo.
About AVIF and TGA files
AVIF is a newer web format built on the AV1 video codec. It compresses even better than WebP, but many editors, phones’ gallery apps and upload forms still cannot open it.
TGA is an old, simple format still used for textures in games and 3D software. The files written here are uncompressed 32-bit with full transparency. It is a good choice for game engines, 3D modelling and texture tools.
Limits
Up to 30 files of 25 MB each per batch and images up to 50 megapixels — beyond that browsers run out of memory, so the tool says so instead of producing a broken file. Reading AVIF needs a current browser (Chrome or Edge 85+, Firefox 93+, Safari 16.4+); an older one reports the file as unreadable. Files that are not images, or are damaged, are rejected with the reason.
