Privacy Policy

The short version

The calculators on this site run in your browser. The values you type are processed on your own device and are not transmitted to us, stored by us, or shared with anyone. We do not run analytics, we do not serve advertising, and we do not set tracking cookies. The single cookie this site does set remembers your language and nothing else.

Calculator inputs

Every calculator here is written in JavaScript that executes locally. When you enter dates, marks, grades, names or amounts and press Calculate, the arithmetic happens in the page you are already looking at. No request is sent to a server carrying those values, and nothing is written to a database.

A practical consequence: we cannot recover a calculation for you, and we cannot see what you entered. If you want to keep a result, use the copy, share or print buttons on the page.

Cookies and browser storage

This site sets one cookie, and it is not a tracking cookie. It records which language you are reading the site in, so that arriving at the front door a second time takes you back to the language you were last using rather than to English.

• ecs_lang — a two-letter language code such as en or id. It holds no identifier, is not read by anyone else, and is used for exactly one decision: whether a visit to the site's root address should be redirected to your language. Every other page is served from its own address and ignores the cookie entirely, which is why a page you link to shows the same thing to everybody. It lasts a year and you can delete it with the rest of your site data.

A few more things are stored on your device, and only because you asked for them. Nothing in this list is sent to us, none of it identifies you, and clearing your site data removes all of it.

• ecs-theme — light or dark, written only when you press the theme button in the header. If you never press it, nothing is written and the site follows your device's own light or dark setting.
• ecs-tool-favs — the tools you have starred, as a list of page names. Written only when you press a star.
• ecs-tool-recent — the last few tools you opened, so the tools page can offer them again. Never more than four.
• ecs-tasbih — if you use the tasbih counter, your count, target, label and completed rounds. This is what lets the count survive closing the tab, which is the entire point of it.

That is the complete list. There is no session storage, no local database, and nothing a calculator or tool was given is written to any of it. In a private or incognito window your browser normally discards all of it when you close the window.

Server logs

This site is hosted on standard web hosting, and web servers keep access logs by default. These typically record the page requested, the date and time, your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, and the page that referred you. This is ordinary server operation rather than something we have added, and the logs are used only for keeping the site running and investigating abuse or errors. They are retained according to the hosting provider's standard retention period.

Calculator inputs never appear in these logs, because they are never sent to the server in the first place.

Third-party services

The site loads its own stylesheet, its own JavaScript and its own icons. There are no third-party fonts, no embedded videos, no social widgets, no analytics scripts and no advertising networks.

There is one exception, and it only happens if you ask for it. On the Image to Word page, the mode that reads text out of a picture needs a recognition engine (Tesseract, an open-source project) and a data file for the language you choose. Those are downloaded from cdn.jsdelivr.net, a public code delivery network, the first time you select that mode, and your browser caches them afterwards.

Two things are worth being precise about. Requesting a file from a CDN tells that CDN your IP address and which file you asked for, in exactly the way requesting any web page does — so choosing that mode is a request to a company other than us. What it does not do is send your image anywhere: the recognition runs inside your own browser once the engine has arrived, and the picture is never uploaded, to them or to us. Every other page on this site, and the other mode on that same page, contacts nobody at all.

Links to other sites

Some pages link to external sites, such as an official university or examination board page. Once you follow such a link you are subject to that site's own privacy practices, which we have no control over.

Email you send us

If you email us, we receive whatever you put in that message, including your address. We use it to reply and to investigate what you reported. We do not add correspondents to any mailing list.

Children

The site is a set of general-purpose calculators and is not directed at children. Because we do not collect personal information from anyone, we do not knowingly collect it from children either.

Your rights

Rights such as access, correction and erasure apply to personal data a site holds about you. We do not hold any: no accounts, no profiles, no stored calculations. If you have emailed us and would like that correspondence deleted, ask and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If the site's behaviour changes — for example if analytics or advertising were ever added — this page will be updated before that change takes effect, and the date at the top will change with it.
