How to convert JFIF to PSD
- Drop your JFIF files on the box above, or click it to choose them (up to 30 at once).
- Press Convert. Each file is processed on your device and shows its old and new size.
- Download the files one by one or take them all as a ZIP.
What changes when you convert JFIF to PSD
- Every decoded pixel is written exactly — PSD is lossless here. Converting cannot restore detail JFIF compression already discarded; it only stops further loss.
- JFIF images have no transparency, so there is nothing to lose there.
- Camera details and GPS location (EXIF) are not copied into the new file. Photo orientation is applied to the pixels first, so the result is the right way up.
- Expect a much larger file: PSD here is uncompressed, about width × height × 4 bytes — roughly 48 MB for a 12-megapixel photo.
About JFIF and PSD files
A .jfif file is an ordinary JPEG with a different extension — Windows and some browsers save JPEG images that way. Inside, the data is the same as a .jpg.
PSD is Photoshop’s own format. The file written here is a single flattened image (no layers can be created from a flat picture); transparency, if any, becomes the image’s alpha channel. Photoshop, GIMP and Photopea open it. It is a good choice for starting an edit in Photoshop or a tool that asks for a .psd.
Limits
Up to 30 files of 25 MB each per batch and images up to 50 megapixels — beyond that browsers run out of memory, so the tool says so instead of producing a broken file. Files that are not images, or are damaged, are rejected with the reason.
