Gold Rate in Jharkhand Today

The international gold reference in rupees, quoted per gram and per bhori (vori) — the unit Jharkhand actually uses — with the source named and the gap between this figure and a jeweller's price stated rather than glossed over.

Live reference rate temporarily unavailable.

The international feed this page reads has not returned a usable value recently enough to show. Nothing has been substituted for it. The calculator below still works in full — enter the rate your jeweller or local association is quoting and every figure it returns will be exact.

No current reference rate to show.

Rather than print a figure that might be days old without saying so, this page shows nothing here. The calculator takes a price you enter and is unaffected.

Sources: gold-api.com and exchangerate-api.com. Neither returned a usable value recently enough to display.

What Jharkhand actually searches for

Jharkhand sits on the boundary between the tola-speaking north and the bhori-speaking east, and uses both names for the same 11.6638 g weight. Jamshedpur carries the state's demand and leads firmly with 22 carat.

  • 12,160 searches a month naming Jharkhand
  • traditional unit: bhori (vori) (11.6638038 g)
  • most-asked purity in its cities: 22K
  • 1 city page beneath this one

Figures from the India keyword research this platform was built against, aggregated after brand, foreign-country and product queries were removed. They describe search demand, not prices.

Calculator

Gold value calculator — Jharkhand

Weight, purity and a price in, an itemised value out. Every optional charge is listed on its own line and none of them is applied unless you enter it.

What do you want to work out?
Which price should it use?

Enter the rate for the purity you select below. A jeweller quoting "₹14,185 per gram" almost always means per gram of 22K as weighed, not per gram of pure gold — this calculator asks which, and will not guess.

Common weights
Unit
Purity

Karat sets what fraction of the weight is gold: 22K is 22/24 of it, 18K is 18/24.

Pre-set to 22K because that is the purity Jharkhand's own searches ask for most. Change it freely.

Advanced — making charge, wastage, GST, buy-back

All four start empty and stay out of the total until you enter them. There is no universal Indian making charge and no single jewellery tax rule this calculator could apply on your behalf, so it applies none and shows each one you enter on its own line.

A percentage of the value of the gold actually billed, which is how most Indian shops quote it. Whatever you are quoted — nothing is assumed.

Added as extra gold weight billed, which is how wastage is normally charged — not as a percentage of the money.

Whatever appears on your bill, entered by you. This calculator does not assume a rate, because what is charged depends on what is being sold and this page is not tax advice. If your invoice shows 3%, use the chip or type 3.

What a buyer takes off melt value when you sell. Shown as a separate "if you sold it today" figure, never folded into the purchase total.

Enter a weight and a rate to see the value, the pure gold content, and every charge on its own line.

Cities in Jharkhand

Each of these has its own page because its own searches say something the state page does not.

The bhori (vori), and the units around it

Jharkhand quotes in bhori (vori), which is 11.6638038 g exactly. That matters when comparing a quote here against one from another part of India, because the traditional units are genuinely different weights rather than regional names for one: a pavan is 8 g and a tola is 11.6638038 g. Only the bhori and the tola are the same weight, under two names.

Indian gold weights, exactly

Every factor below is exact by definition, not measured or rounded.
UnitIn gramsWhere it is used
gram 1 g Used across India
10 grams 10 g Used across India
kilogram 1000 g Used across India
troy ounce 31.1034768 g Used across India
tola 11.6638038 g North India
pavan 8 g Kerala and Tamil Nadu
bhori (vori) local 11.6638038 g West Bengal, Odisha and Assam

The pavan and the tola are different weights, not regional names for the same one: a pavan is 8 g and a tola is 11.6638038 g, so a pavan is about 69% of a tola. The bhori — vori in some places — is the tola under a different name, exactly, with no rounding between them.

Every purity, converted

Karat, fineness and what is actually stamped

Karat is a fraction of 24 by mass. It is not a quality grade and it has nothing to do with the carat that weighs gemstones — a 22-carat ring and a 2-carat diamond use the same word for two unrelated things.

  • 24K 24/24 = 100.0000% gold stamped 999 Pure gold. Coins, bars and bank-sold gold. Too soft for most jewellery.
  • 22K 22/24 = 91.6667% gold stamped 916 The default for Indian gold jewellery. Stamped 916.
  • 20K 20/24 = 83.3333% gold stamped 833 Less common, but searched for in several northern and central cities.
  • 18K 18/24 = 75.0000% gold stamped 750 Stone-set and lighter designs. Stamped 750.
  • 14K 14/24 = 58.3333% gold stamped 585 Stamped 585 in India and Europe. The hallmark is the legal minimum, not the karat arithmetic.

Where the stamp and the arithmetic disagree — 14K is 583.33 by the karat fraction but stamped 585 — the stamp is a legal minimum fineness, not a rounding error. This platform keeps the two numbers apart and never swaps one for the other.

Jharkhand: common questions

What unit is gold sold in across Jharkhand?

Grams and ten grams everywhere, plus the bhori (vori) — 11.6638038 g exactly — as the traditional unit here. The calculator on this page offers it alongside the national units and converts between all of them without rounding in between.

Is the rate on this page the rate jewellers in Jharkhand charge?

No, and it is important that it is not read that way. The figure here is the international spot price converted to rupees. A jeweller's counter price in Jharkhand adds import duty, GST, making charge and margin on top of it, which puts it materially higher. This platform has no feed of local retail rates and does not estimate one. Enter the rate you are quoted into the calculator and every figure it gives you will be exact.

Why do only some Jharkhand cities have pages?

Because a city gets a page here only when there is real search demand for it and something true to say about it that this page does not already say. Jamshedpur clear that bar. The rest of the state does not, and inventing pages for them would add URLs without adding anything a reader could use.

Check this against another source

The card below is published by goldprice.dev, an independent gold data service. It is their card, rendered by them, showing their own 22K spot figure per gram in rupees — not ours, and not routed through this site.

The two figures will not agree to the rupee, and that is expected. Each is an independent aggregation with its own sources, its own USD–INR rate and its own refresh cycle. What matters is that they land in the same place: if this card and the rates above ever diverge by more than a rounding difference, treat both with suspicion until you have checked a third.

Both are spot reference figures. Neither is a Jharkhand retail rate, neither includes import duty, GST, making charge or a jeweller's margin, and neither is affiliated with this site. goldprice.dev is used here under its official widget licence; this site is not partnered with, endorsed by or acting for them.

How the rupee figure is produced

One step, and it is arithmetic on two fetched numbers:

24K per gram (₹) = spot (USD per troy ounce) × USD/INR ÷ 31.1034768

31.1034768 g is the troy ounce, exactly, by definition — 480 grains of 64.79891 mg each. Nothing is added, rounded or adjusted in that line.

How the other purities are produced

By the karat fraction and nothing else: a karat figure is the 24K figure multiplied by karat ÷ 24. 22K is 22/24 = 91.6667% of the 24K number, 18K is 75%, 14K is 58.3333%. That is a purity conversion. It does not include a retail premium, a jeweller's margin, a making charge or any tax, and this platform never folds any of those into a rate.

A hallmark number is not the same thing as the karat arithmetic and is not substituted for it. 14K is 58.333% gold by the karat definition and is stamped 585; 22K is 91.667% and is stamped 916. Both numbers appear on the cards above, labelled separately.

What this platform does not have

A retail gold rate for Jharkhand, or for any other Indian city. There is no free, redistributable feed of Indian jewellers' counter prices, and the gap between the international figure above and what a shop actually charges is large — import duty, GST, making charge and margin between them put it well into double-digit percentages. Nudging the reference number by a plausible-looking amount and calling the result a local rate would be inventing data, so this platform does not do it. It asks you for the number instead, and then does the arithmetic exactly.

It also has no per-city variation of its own. The reference figure is national — international, in fact — and the same on every page here. What differs page to page is the local unit, the purity your area actually asks for, and the context; not a manufactured local price.

Update schedule and failure behaviour

A scheduled job fetches both sources at most once an hour and stores the result only if it passes structure, type, range, timestamp and step-size checks. A reading that fails any of them is discarded and the previous good one is kept — bad data never overwrites good data.

Past 2 hours the page stops calling a figure current and labels it a previous reading. Past 72 hours it stops showing the figure at all and the calculator switches to your own price. Failures are logged server-side. At no point is a value generated, estimated or carried forward silently.

The same account of every feed this site uses, in one place: data sources.
