How to convert TXT to EPUB
- Drop your TXT file on the box above, or paste its content into the text box.
- Check the settings below the box; the defaults suit most files.
- Press Convert. You see a preview or a summary of the result.
- Download the .epub file.
What is kept when you convert TXT to EPUB
- Paragraphs become e-book paragraphs; the text reflows to any screen and font size.
- Optionally the book is split into chapters at lines starting with “Chapter”, “Part”, “Prologue” or a Markdown #, with a table of contents.
- The file is EPUB 3 with an EPUB 2 table of contents too, with the title, author and language you enter.
About TXT and EPUB files
A .txt file is plain text: characters and line breaks, with no fonts, sizes or layout. It is what Notepad, TextEdit, code editors and many export buttons produce. It opens in any text editor.
An EPUB is an e-book packaged as a ZIP file: XHTML chapters, a package file listing them in reading order, metadata such as title and author, and usually a table of contents. It opens in Apple Books, Google Play Books, Kobo, Calibre, Thorium.
Good to know
- If accented letters show up as é or ?, the text file was saved in an older Windows encoding; this tool reads UTF-8 and falls back to Windows-1252 automatically, so open the result and check one accented word.
- Check the result in two readers (for example Apple Books and Calibre) — they differ slightly in fonts and spacing.
