How to convert TXT to PDF
- Drop your TXT file on the box above, or paste its content into the text box.
- Check the settings below the box; the defaults suit most files.
- Press Convert. You see a preview or a summary of the result.
- Download the .pdf file.
What is kept when you convert TXT to PDF
- Text is laid out on A4 or Letter pages with 19 mm margins, wrapped at word boundaries, with page numbers.
- The Noto Sans font is embedded (only the characters used), so the PDF looks identical on every device and its text can be selected, searched and copied.
- Latin, Cyrillic, Greek and Vietnamese are supported. Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and CJK text cannot be drawn correctly without a shaping engine, so the tool stops and says so instead of writing a broken PDF.
About TXT and PDF files
A .txt file is plain text: characters and line breaks, with no fonts, sizes or layout. It is what Notepad, TextEdit, code editors and many export buttons produce. It opens in any text editor.
A PDF fixes text and layout into pages that look the same on every device and printer. The PDFs written here embed their font, so the text stays selectable and searchable. It opens in any browser, Acrobat Reader, phone and tablet viewers.
Good to know
- If accented letters show up as é or ?, the text file was saved in an older Windows encoding; this tool reads UTF-8 and falls back to Windows-1252 automatically, so open the result and check one accented word.
- Choose PDF for printing, archiving and sending final versions. If the recipient needs to edit, send Word instead.
Privacy and limits
The file is read and converted by this page in your browser; there is no upload and no account. Files up to 25 MB are accepted; a file of the wrong type or a damaged file is rejected with the reason.
