Fantasy Basketball Points Calculator

Turn an NBA box score line into fantasy points. It starts with a common points formula, and you can change every value, or add three-pointer and double-double bonuses, to match your league or site.

What is a fantasy basketball points calculator?

A fantasy basketball points calculator turns a player's NBA stats into one fantasy score. You type in the box score: points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks and turnovers. The calculator multiplies each one by its value and adds them up.

The default scoring

The default values are the NBA scoring published by FantasyData, a common points formula:

StatFantasy points
Point scored1
Rebound1.2
Assist1.5
Steal2
Block2
Turnover−1

Fantasy score = points + 1.2 × rebounds + 1.5 × assists + 2 × steals + 2 × blocks − turnovers

Other sites and leagues use different numbers. Some give extra points for a three-pointer, and some give a bonus for a double-double or triple-double. Set those in the scoring values. This page is not FanDuel, DraftKings, Yahoo or ESPN scoring unless you enter their values.

Examples

Every example below was run through this calculator.

  • 25 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 3 turnovers: 25 + 12 + 12 + 4 + 2 − 3 = 52. With a 1.5-point double-double bonus: 53.5.
  • A triple-double of 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists with a 3-point triple-double bonus: 20 + 13.2 + 15 + 3 = 51.2. Only the biggest bonus counts, so there is no double-double bonus as well.
  • 30 points with 5 three-pointers in a league that gives 0.5 extra per three: 30 + 2.5 = 32.5.

What is a good fantasy score in basketball?

It depends on the scoring values. With the defaults here, a strong all-round game like the first example reaches about 50. Compare a score with other players in your league on the same night, not with a number from a different scoring system.

Frequently asked questions

What is a fantasy score in the NBA?

It is one number that sums up a player's game. Each stat is worth some fantasy points: with the default values here, a point scored is 1, a rebound 1.2, an assist 1.5, a steal or block 2, and a turnover takes away 1. Add them up and you have the fantasy score.

How do you calculate NBA fantasy points?

Multiply each stat by its point value and add the results. 25 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, 1 block and 3 turnovers is 25 + 12 + 12 + 4 + 2 − 3 = 52 fantasy points with the default values.

Are these FanDuel or DraftKings points?

Not necessarily. The defaults are a common points formula published by FantasyData. Daily fantasy sites and season-long leagues each use their own values, and some add bonuses for three-pointers or double-doubles. Copy your site's values into the scoring settings and the calculator will match.

What counts as a double-double?

Ten or more in two of these: points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. Ten or more in three of them is a triple-double. The bonuses are 0 by default; set them if your league uses them.

What is a good fantasy score in basketball?

It depends on the scoring values and the league. With the defaults here, a stat line like 25 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists already reaches about 50. The best way to judge is to compare with other players in your league on the same night.
