What is an FPL points calculator?

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) gives every player points for what they do in a real Premier League match. This FPL points calculator takes one player's match stats and adds up their points with the official scoring for the 2026/27 season. It also shows what the score is worth if the player is your captain.

This is an independent calculator. It is not the official game and has no link to your FPL team.

How FPL points are calculated

Start with minutes: 2 points for 60 minutes or more, 1 point for less. Then add points for goals, assists, clean sheets, saves, defensive contributions and bonus. Then take away points for cards, own goals, missed penalties and goals conceded. The total is the player's score for that match.

Two rules catch people out. Saves only count in complete groups of 3, so 8 saves is 2 points, not 2.67. Goals conceded only count in complete pairs, so 3 goals conceded costs 1 point, not 1.5.

Defensive contribution points

Defensive contributions reward players who do a lot of defending. A defender gets 2 points for 10 or more clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles in a match. A midfielder or forward needs 12, and for them ball recoveries count too. The most a player can get is 2 points a match. Goalkeepers do not earn these points.

FPL points examples

Every example below was run through this calculator.

  • Midfielder, 90 minutes, a goal, an assist, a clean sheet and 3 bonus: 2 + 5 + 3 + 1 + 3 = 14 points. As captain that is 28; as Triple Captain, 42.
  • Defender, 90 minutes, clean sheet, 11 defensive contributions: 2 + 4 + 2 = 8 points. With 9 contributions instead, the 2 points are missed and it is 6.
  • Goalkeeper, 90 minutes, 7 saves, a penalty save, 3 goals conceded, a yellow card: 2 + 2 (two full sets of 3 saves) + 5 − 1 (one pair of goals) − 1 = 7 points.
  • Forward, 70 minutes, 2 goals: 2 + 8 = 10 points, or 20 as captain.
  • Goalkeeper who scores: 90 minutes and a goal is 2 + 10 = 12 points before anything else.

Captain and Triple Captain

Your captain's points are doubled. The Triple Captain chip makes them three times as much for one gameweek. The calculator shows the points before and after the multiplier, so you can see exactly what the armband added.

Is 2,000 points good in FPL?

It depends on the season. Average and winning totals change every year, because the fixtures, the players and the rules change. The fairest way to judge a season is your overall rank as a percentage, which the FPL site shows in your season history. For a single match, a score of 10 or more is usually a big haul for most players, because a normal 90 minutes with nothing else is just 2 or 3 points.

What this calculator does not do

It does not predict bonus points. Bonus comes from the Bonus Points System, which compares every player in the match. Type in the bonus the player received. It also does not forecast future points, pick a team or read your FPL account.

Frequently asked questions

How are FPL points calculated?

Each thing a player does in a match has a fixed value. Playing 60 minutes or more gives 2 points, less gives 1. A goal gives 10 for a goalkeeper, 6 for a defender, 5 for a midfielder and 4 for a forward. An assist gives 3. Clean sheets, saves, defensive contributions and bonus add more; cards, own goals, missed penalties and goals conceded take points away. Add them up and you have the score.

How many points is a goal in FPL?

It depends on the position: goalkeeper 10, defender 6, midfielder 5, forward 4.

How do defensive contribution points work?

A defender gets 2 points for 10 or more clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles in one match. A midfielder or forward needs 12, and ball recoveries also count for them. It is 2 points at most per match, however many more actions the player makes.

When does a player get a clean sheet?

When their team concedes no goals while they are on the pitch, and they play at least 60 minutes. It is worth 4 points to a goalkeeper or defender and 1 to a midfielder. Forwards get nothing for it.

How do captain points work?

Your captain scores double. With the Triple Captain chip, the captain scores three times. A player who scores 14 points is worth 28 as captain and 42 as triple captain.

Can this calculator predict bonus points?

No. Bonus points come from the Bonus Points System, which ranks every player in the match. Type in the bonus the player got (0 to 3) and the calculator adds it.

Is 2,000 points in FPL good?

It depends on the season, because average and top totals change every year. The fairest check is your overall rank as a percentage, which the FPL site shows on your season history. This calculator scores single matches, not seasons.

Is this the official FPL site?

No. It is an independent calculator that uses the scoring values published by the official game for the 2026/27 season.
