How to convert QIF to CSV
- Drop your QIF file on the box above, or paste its content into the text box.
- Choose how the dates in the file are written. The tool lists the orders that fit every date, but you make the choice.
- Press Convert. Every amount and date is checked; if any row cannot be read exactly, nothing is written and the rows are listed.
- Download the .csv file, or copy the text.
What is kept when you convert QIF to CSV
- Each transaction becomes a row: date, amount, payee, memo, check number, category, cleared flag, address, splits, account and type.
- You choose how the file’s dates are written (MM/DD, DD/MM or YYYY-MM-DD) — QIF does not say, so the tool shows which orders fit and never guesses. The original date text is kept in its own column.
- Amounts keep their sign and exact decimals; split lines are kept and any split that does not add up to its total is reported, not corrected.

About QIF and CSV files
QIF (Quicken Interchange Format) is an older plain-text format: one field per line, a letter code at the start (D date, T amount, P payee, L category), and ^ to end each transaction. Its dates have no fixed order. It opens in older Quicken versions, GnuCash, Moneydance, Microsoft Money.
CSV (comma-separated values) is a table as plain text: one row per line, fields separated by commas, and fields that contain commas, quotes or line breaks wrapped in double quotes. It opens in Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice, any database tool.
Good to know
- Before converting, find one transaction whose date you know (a salary day, say) and check which date order reads it correctly.
- If a spreadsheet showed all your data in one column, the file probably uses semicolons (common in Europe); choose the delimiter instead of relying on detection.
Privacy and limits
The file is read and converted by this page in your browser; there is no upload and no account. Amounts are handled as exact decimal text, never as rounded numbers. Files up to 25 MB are accepted; a file of the wrong type or a damaged file is rejected with the reason.
