How to convert QIF to PDF

  2. Choose how the dates in the file are written. The tool lists the orders that fit every date, but you make the choice.

What is kept when you convert QIF to PDF

  • Transactions are listed in file order with date, payee, category, memo and amount, in a table that repeats its header on every page.
  • Dates are read only in the order you choose; amounts are copied exactly and totalled with exact decimal arithmetic.
  • Splits are shown under their category column as written in the file.

About QIF and PDF files

QIF (Quicken Interchange Format) is an older plain-text format: one field per line, a letter code at the start (D date, T amount, P payee, L category), and ^ to end each transaction. Its dates have no fixed order. It opens in older Quicken versions, GnuCash, Moneydance, Microsoft Money.

A PDF fixes text and layout into pages that look the same on every device and printer. The PDFs written here embed their font, so the text stays selectable and searchable. It opens in any browser, Acrobat Reader, phone and tablet viewers.

Good to know

  • Before converting, find one transaction whose date you know (a salary day, say) and check which date order reads it correctly.
  • Choose PDF for printing, archiving and sending final versions. If the recipient needs to edit, send Word instead.

Privacy and limits

The file is read and converted by this page in your browser; there is no upload and no account. Amounts are handled as exact decimal text, never as rounded numbers. Files up to 25 MB are accepted; a file of the wrong type or a damaged file is rejected with the reason.

Frequently asked questions

Can I print several accounts?

Yes — all accounts in the file are listed, each row labelled with its account name when the QIF names one.

Is anything left out?

Category and memorised-payee lists inside the QIF are not transactions and are skipped; the summary says how many records that was.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs in your browser on your own device, and this page has no upload endpoint. The PDF fonts (about 1 MB) are downloaded from this site the first time you make a PDF, then cached. Your account numbers and transactions are never sent anywhere.

Is there a size limit?

One file of up to 25 MB at a time. Larger files can exhaust a browser tab’s memory, so the tool refuses them with a message instead of failing halfway.
