What is kept when you convert QBO to CSV

  • One row per transaction: date, amount, type, name, memo, FITID, check number, reference, account, account type and currency.
  • Amounts keep their sign (negative = money out) and exact decimals; dates are written as YYYY-MM-DD so no spreadsheet misreads them.
  • Bank and credit-card statements are both read; several accounts in one file are listed together with their account number on each row.

Example

A two-transaction QBO statement becomes:

About QBO and CSV files

QBO (QuickBooks Web Connect) is OFX with Intuit’s INTU.BID bank identifier. QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online import it as a bank feed file. It opens in QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online.

CSV (comma-separated values) is a table as plain text: one row per line, fields separated by commas, and fields that contain commas, quotes or line breaks wrapped in double quotes. It opens in Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice, any database tool.

Good to know

  • In QuickBooks, import a short test file first; once a date range is imported, re-importing it can create duplicates if the transaction IDs change.
  • If a spreadsheet showed all your data in one column, the file probably uses semicolons (common in Europe); choose the delimiter instead of relying on detection.

Privacy and limits

The file is read and converted by this page in your browser; there is no upload and no account. Amounts are handled as exact decimal text, never as rounded numbers. Files up to 25 MB are accepted; a file of the wrong type or a damaged file is rejected with the reason.

Frequently asked questions

Why YYYY-MM-DD dates?

Because it is the only date layout every spreadsheet in every country reads the same way.

Can I convert the CSV back to QBO later?

Yes — CSV to QBO takes it back, with the column mapping step.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs in your browser on your own device, and this page has no upload endpoint. Your account numbers and transactions are never sent anywhere.

Is there a size limit?

One file of up to 25 MB at a time. Larger files can exhaust a browser tab’s memory, so the tool refuses them with a message instead of failing halfway.
