How to convert CSV to QBO
- Drop your CSV file on the box above, or paste its content into the text box.
- Match your columns to the QBO fields, choose the date format and say what a positive amount means — the tool shows which date orders fit your file.
- Fill in the account details: type, account number, routing code, currency, ending balance and the Intuit bank ID.
- Press Convert. Every amount and date is checked; if any row cannot be read exactly, nothing is written and the rows are listed.
- Download the .qbo file.
What is kept when you convert CSV to QBO
- You map every column yourself — date, description, amount (or separate money-in and money-out columns), memo, reference, check number, payee, category. Nothing is matched by guesswork.
- You choose the date order (MM/DD, DD/MM or YYYY-MM-DD) and what a positive amount means. Every date must be a real date and every amount a real number, or the tool lists the rows and writes nothing.
- Amounts are copied as exact decimals; the QBO is read back and compared row by row before download. Categories are kept in the memo, because QBO files have no category field.
Example
With Date, Description and Amount mapped, MM/DD/YYYY chosen and “positive = money in”, the transaction list in the QBO is:

About CSV and QBO files
CSV (comma-separated values) is a table as plain text: one row per line, fields separated by commas, and fields that contain commas, quotes or line breaks wrapped in double quotes. It opens in Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice, any database tool.
QBO (QuickBooks Web Connect) is OFX with Intuit’s INTU.BID bank identifier. QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online import it as a bank feed file. It opens in QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online.
Good to know
- If a spreadsheet showed all your data in one column, the file probably uses semicolons (common in Europe); choose the delimiter instead of relying on detection.
- In QuickBooks, import a short test file first; once a date range is imported, re-importing it can create duplicates if the transaction IDs change.
Privacy and limits
The file is read and converted by this page in your browser; there is no upload and no account. Amounts are handled as exact decimal text, never as rounded numbers. Files up to 25 MB are accepted; a file of the wrong type or a damaged file is rejected with the reason.
