What is kept when you convert EPUB to FB2
- Title, authors (split into first and last name), language, publisher, year and description go into FB2’s description block.
- Each chapter becomes a <section> with its title, paragraphs and sub-headings.
- Pictures and styling are not carried over; the FB2 is text-only. You choose the FB2 genre, because an EPUB’s subjects do not map to FB2’s genre list.

…About EPUB and FB2 files
An EPUB is an e-book packaged as a ZIP file: XHTML chapters, a package file listing them in reading order, metadata such as title and author, and usually a table of contents. It opens in Apple Books, Google Play Books, Kobo, Calibre, Thorium.
FB2 (FictionBook 2) is an XML e-book format popular in Russia and Eastern Europe: one XML file with a description block (title, author, language) and sections of paragraphs. It opens in FBReader, Calibre, PocketBook, many Android readers.
Good to know
- Check the result in two readers (for example Apple Books and Calibre) — they differ slightly in fonts and spacing.
- Most FB2 readers also open .fb2.zip; zip the file if you need to send several books at once.
Privacy and limits
The file is read and converted by this page in your browser; there is no upload and no account. Scripts inside the book are never run, the ZIP is read with size limits that stop archive bombs, and DRM-protected books are refused. Files up to 100 MB are accepted; a file of the wrong type or a damaged file is rejected with the reason.
